So read on to discover how to look after an Aussiedoodle & figure out if one of these gorgeous dogs is the perfect fit for your home.
Aussiedoodles are pretty energetic, super friendly & razor-sharp smart. They love to play, love being around people & are pretty easy to train – although some adults can be a bit stubborn.
In terms of energy levels, adults have a pretty steady go – they need daily exercise or they can get bored or destructive. They’re also pretty good with the kids & other pets love playing in the yard & socializing. Training is always easier if started early but adults can still learn new tricks & commands.
Full-grown Aussiedoodles are generally pretty healthy but can still catch whatever their parents were prone to. Some common health issues include hip dysplasia allergies ear infections and eye problems.
Their average lifespan is 12 to 15 years which is pretty impressive but of course the odd one will live longer or shorter depending on how well they’re taken care of. Regular check ups with the vet vaccinations keeping an eye on their dental health and making sure they eat a healthy varied diet will all help to add years to their life.
90+ minutes per day for very active or Standard Aussiedoodles
How to Split the Time
2 walks a day
(20–30 minutes each)
Playtime (fetch, tug, running)
20 minutes
Mental games or training
15–25 minutes
Your Aussiedoodle is getting enough exercise if:
They are calm at home
No chewing or bad behavior
They sleep well after activity
Aussiedoodles are high energy dogs so they need to get out and get moving – at least an hour a day. You can mix it up with a bit of walking some running maybe even a game or two.
But exercise is just half the battle when it comes to keeping their minds active. They have a real knack for puzzles and training games and they love learning new tricks. If you can get them into swimming or agility courses that’s great too. And as a side note Mini Aussiedoodles might need shorter walks while Standard Aussiedoodles need a bit more of a workout.
A well balanced diet with all the right stuff – protein carbs vitamins and minerals is what you’re aiming for with an adult Aussiedoodle. And of course the amount you feed will depend on their age size and how much exercise they get. Overfeeding can be a real problem so it’s worth setting a limit and sticking to it.
Some owners like to give a bit of a boost with supplements like fish oil which is supposed to be great for their coat and joints. Just make sure whatever food you choose is high quality and that fresh water is always available.
Aussiedoodles are pretty adaptable so they can live pretty much anywhere – even in an apartment if you can keep them exercised. Ideally though they love a big backyard to run around in. And they love travelling too – just be sure to keep them safe in the car with a leash or dog seat.
Daily care for an Aussiedoodle is pretty straightforward – just brush their teeth and fur now and then and check their ears to make sure they’re clean. Giving them toys to keep them occupied when you’re not around will also help prevent boredom. They are very social dogs so do be prepared to spend a bit of time with them if you leave them alone for too long.
Adult Aussiedoodles are quite a bit bigger and stronger than those rambunctious little puppies – and their behaviour is pretty well under control too. Pups on the other hand spend most of their time sleeping but have these bursts of high energy that come out of nowhere. Grown up Aussiedoodles on the other hand have all day energy and tend to focus a lot better in training.
You’ll want to keep training sessions with your puppy nice and short – they can get a bit overwhelmed after a bit. While a grown Aussiedoodle can keep up with a longer training session, you may find you need to correct them for any bad habits they picked up when they were a pup. Puppies also need to eat pretty much all the time it is like they have bottomless tummies! Adults are much more settled with just two meals a day.
Some people get it wrong and think Aussiedoodles don’t need any exercise – but that just isn’t true. They need a bit of daily activity to stay happy and healthy.
Others think their fur is super low maintenance but the truth is it sheds less than some breeds, but it still needs brushing.
Some folks also think a grown Aussiedoodle can’t learn new tricks, but that’s just plain wrong. They are super intelligent and can learn new things right through to adulthood.
Full grown Aussiedoodles are smart friendly and active dogs. They come in Mini Medium and Standard sizes. They need exercise diet grooming and love. They are good with children and pets. Adults are calmer and easier to train than puppies. They are healthy if cared for. They can live 12 to 15 years or longer. Choosing the right size and gender helps match your lifestyle. Full-grown Aussiedoodles are loyal playful and wonderful family dogs.
